Today’s blog post will feature the king of the fall, dubbed
the R&B king, The Weeknd. We will analyse his mixtape’s, studio album’s and
EP’s released by the Toronto artist.
Trilogy is where it all started for Abel. Abel combined
three mixtapes into one album. The three mixtapes were House of Balloons,
Thursday and Echoes of Silence. After its release, Abel grew in popularity
especially through features such as Drake on “The Zone.” A personal highlight on
the mixtape for me was Wicked Games, featuring on House of Balloons. The infatuation
of his lyrics and violent beat make it one of his best pieces of work to date.
A year later Abel released his first studio album, Kiss
Land. A personal favourite of mine was "Live for,” which featured Drake.
In 2015, Abel released Beauty Behind the Madness. Beauty was Abel’s way for announcing himself on the world stage through songs which have
been number one singles such as “I Can’t Feel My Face,” “The Hills,” and “Earned
It,” which featured on the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack.
2016 saw Abel release Starboy and featured again some number
one singles such as “Starboy” and “I feel it Coming”
In January 2018, Abel released his first EP, My Dear
Melancholy. After breaking up with Selena Gomez before releasing this album,
fans assumed songs such as “Call Out My Name” and “Privilege” were written
about her and their break up.
Thanks for tuning into today’s blog and we hope to see you
tomorrow!
